James R. Pemberton

James Robert Pemberton, 85, of Peoria, passed away at 4:42 PM on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on February 14, 1927 in Chicago to John and Ada Pemberton. He married Clara Elizabeth Paradee on June 25, 1948 in Pana, IL. She survives, along with four children Wanda (Ross) Schride both of Washington, IL, Diann Pemberton of Plainfield, IL, Dennis Pemberton of Washington and James E (Kathy) Pemberton of Pekin, IL.; 10 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one half-brother and one grandchild.

James was a Machine Operator in the Tool Dept. for Caterpillar Tractor Company, Inc., retiring in 1979. He was a member of UAW Local 974 in East Peoria. He was a Navy WWII veteran and had been a member of American Legion Limestone Post 979, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835 in Creve Coeur. He had also been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Peoria.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Laramie Street Baptist Church or to the Illinois Cancer Care Center in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in care of arrangements.
