Doris J. Egan, 83, of Bartonville, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 5, 1931 in Peoria, Illinois to Thomas and Anna (Moon) Dismang, Doris married George “Dewey” Egan on January 23, 1948 in Peoria. He survives. Preceding Doris in death were her two sisters, Norma and Margaret.
Also surviving are her three daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Delawder of Tucson, Arizona, Elizabeth (Rex) Orton of Hanna City, Illinois and Joan (Roger) Pentecost of Marquette Heights, Illinois. Doris dearly enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Working over twenty years as a retail associate at Bergner’s in Sheridan Village, Doris received numerous commendations for ‘outstanding’ customer service before retiring in 2004. Her interests included cooking, reading, and water aerobics. Doris was a compassionate listener, caregiver, and the spiritual center of her family helping others solve the many challenges they faced.
She was an active member of the Pentecostals of Peoria Church.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Pentecostals of Peoria Church, 3510 W. Malone St. Peoria. Pastor Jeffrey Lashley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Smithville Cemetery. Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
