Dennis Matthew Kendall, 57, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 10, 1963 in Newark, Ohio. He was the son of Duane M. and Mary E. (Dickinson) Kendall. He married Cristal J. Brown on January 3, 2017 in Peoria, Illinois. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Karen Marie Kendall of Peoria, Illinois and one step-son, Darrin Michael Shernak of Peoria, Illinois; three grandchildren, Roxanne, Mateo, and Preston; three siblings, Barbara Waltz, Beth Vaughn and Dana Kendall. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David and Daniel Kendall.
Dennis was a Fire Captain for the State of Illinois working 30 years retiring in January of 2014. Dennis graduated from the Suffield University with a degree in fire science. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and being outdoors. He was an Air Force Veteran.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. Private interment rites with military honors will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
