He was born on October 8, 1942, in Peoria to Robert Kirk and Norma (Whitenack) Thomas. He married Marilyn Glackin on February 21, 1965 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2011.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, step-father Bennie Thomas, and sister Elizabeth Miller.
David is survived by his children, Catherine Kirk of Glasford, Gary (Alison) Kirk of Washington; grandchildren, Sara Ummel, David A. Kirk; great-grandchildren, Jase Ummel, Hudson Harris, Rosalie Harris; and sister, Lelani Pitcher.
David worked almost 25 years for Cilco, where he retired in 1995 as an Operation Supervisor. He loved his old car that he worked on for many years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11am at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with a visitation to start at 9am. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum.
