Charles Thomas Naylor, 87, of Mapleton, formerly of Glasford, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at his home. He was born on January 15, 1936 in Colchester, a son of George T. Naylor and Frances N. (Abbott) Naylor. Charles married Janet Booth on October 26, 1963 in Glasford. She survives.
He is also survived by his five children, Valerie (Robbie) Musgrave of Glasford, Troy (Shelby) Naylor of Glasford, Terry (Amber) Naylor of Pekin, Tricia (John) Lanoue of East Peoria, and Tim (Christy) Naylor of Pekin; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Trudy) Naylor of Springfield, Illinois and Greg (Marilyn Neville) Naylor of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William Naylor.
He served his country in the United States Air Force.
Charles worked as an electrician for Keystone Steel & Wire in Bartonville for 38 1/2 years, retiring in 1992. He then went on to work in maintenance and security for Buehler Home in Peoria for 25 years, retiring in 2016.
In his early adult years, he enjoyed piloting his 1946 Commonwealth 185 Skyranger airplane.
He was a member of the Limestone American Legion Post #979, the Heart of Illinois Shriners in Bartonville, and the United States Power Squadrons. Charles was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and especially enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, archery, and camping.
Cremation was entrusted to the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. A graveside service will take place at a later date in Lancaster Cemetery in rural Glasford with full military honors.
