

Charles F. “Chuck” Betson, 70, of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 13, 1945 in Peoria, Illinois to Charles P. and Rosemary (Meagher) Betson. He first married Mary Ellen Wright on December 19, 1964, she preceded him in death on April 6, 2007 in Peoria. He later married Patricia Rockey on May 8, 2009 in Peoria. She survives.
He has two children, Jerry (Erin) Betson and Chris (Rhiannon) Betson both of Bartonville, three step-children, Ron (Joan) Colman of Washington, Illinois, Jill (Sean) Sauder of Mackinaw, Illinois and Jim Blackburn of Bartonville. He has a step-mother surviving, Sonya Betson of East Peoria and twelve grandchildren, Collin, Addyson, Cooper, Bryan, Adam, Ty, Tanner, Emma, Weston, Ellie, Lauren and Sam. Chuck has two sisters, Cheryl (Alan) Pope of Germantown Hills, Illinois and Diane (Dave) Scott of East Peoria. He has several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Joseph Patrick Betson.
Chuck worked 44 years at Caterpillar Inc. in the purchasing department before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post #979 and was a longtime volunteer on legion fish frying team, Bartonville Lions Club, VFW in Bartonville, Knights of Columbus on Hill St., Moose Lodge in Farmington, a 16 year member of the Village of Bartonville Trustees, served 19 years on the Limestone Little League program, a committeeman for the Democratic Party, avid CUB fan and loved to fish, hunt, golf and bowling.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 4PM until 7PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and 30 minutes prior to services at the church on Thursday. A funeral mass will be on Thursday July 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the St.Joseph Catholic Church in Peoria. Monsignor Stanley L. Deptula will officiate. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Memory Garden in Peoria. Immediately following the graveside service, a celebration of Chuck's life will be held at the Bartonville American Legion.
