Anna S. Boswell, 98, of Hanna City, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 18, 1918 in Peoria County, Illinois to Herman August “Gus” and Sena (Johnson) Meyer. She first married Richard Andrews and later married Merle Boswell on October 21, 1950 in Springfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1988 in Peoria, Illinois. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one step-son, Gene Boswell, one brother, Seebo Meyer and his wife, Ethelyn, two brother in laws, Duane Traver and John Shoemaker.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy (Dr. Robert) Farner of Toluca, Illinois and Deloris Shoemaker of Hanna City, Illinois. She has one step daughter-in-law, Helen Boswell of Morton, Illinois and many loving and caring nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Anna worked at Caterpillar Inc. in the core foundry in earlier years. She loved to fish and hunt and was a master gardener. She was a life member at the St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the St. John Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jay Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to her church, Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Hanna City Fire and Rescue Squad or the donor’s choice.
