John Nelson, 84, of Holland, Texas passed away on August 6th, 2015 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. John was born on September 5th, 1930; he is survived by wife Carolyn (Jane) Nelson.
John is also survived by his sons Michael Nelson and wife Martha, Rodney Nelson and Cynthia Kirby, Phillip Nelson and wife Michelle, daughter Robin Nelson and Manuel Lozano step-son Tom (Tiger) Blaha and wife Darlene, step-daughter Laura Blaha Boyls and husband Derek, eleven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
John loved to hunt, fish, cook, listen to country music and be outdoors. He graduated from Garwood High School and joined the navy. After the Navy John tried his hand as a rice farmer in Garwood, he ended up at Phillips 66 Petro Chemical Co. for 30 yrs. After retiring at 55 years of age he and his wife Jane raised cattleA graveside service will be Monday at 10:am at Holland City Cemetery.
