Trevor Charles White

Trevor Charles White was born on December 1, 1998 in Memphis, Tennessee and passed away at the age of 23 on December 3, 2021. Trevor was the second (and self-proclaimed favorite!) child of Randy and Susan White. He was a loving brother to his two siblings, Morgan and Lucca White. He was the grandson of Gary and Charlotte White and James and Joyce Armour. He was the nephew of Scott and Mary White, Mike and Debbie Barker, and Stanley and Becky Watkins. He was the honorary nephew and godchild to his second cousin, Melissa Armour. He was the cousin of Kayla White, Michelle Wilbanks, Jake Watkins, and Erik Wilbanks. He was the best friend of his beloved Labrador retriever, Bella.

From the moment he entered the world, Trevor was an easygoing and easy-to-love person. He was jovial, genuine, and always there to lend a hand, and even at a young age, Trevor possessed a rare quality that made those around him better just by being himself. His sense of humor combined with his empathy and respect for everyone around him made him well-loved by everyone whose path he crossed.

At the age of four, Trevor began his long and fruitful journey in sports when he started playing baseball. He played until the age of 13, and by that time, he had won numerous tournament championships, including a couple of World Series titles. He began playing football at the age of six and in 2010, he was a team captain and All-Star for the Arlington Bulldogs, who went undefeated and won the Shelby Youth Sports Championship. In his freshman year at Arlington High School, Trevor’s team was and is the only team to go undefeated in the school’s history. He was a four-year letterman, earning second-team offensive lineman All-Metro selection in 2015 and preseason first team member his senior year in 2016 before a torn ACL in the fifth game of the season ended his football-playing days.

Trevor also excelled in the classroom from the start. He won the highly coveted Lion’s Pride award at Lakeland Elementary School in 3rd grade and was a mainstay on the Principal’s Honor Roll, in addition to regularly getting citizenship and perfect attendance awards. In high school, Trevor was an honors student and placed great value on his studies. He was in Beta Club, 30+ Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. Trevor attended The University of Memphis on academic scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics, as well as University Honors. During his time at U of M, he was on Dean’s List every semester, and he was chosen by his professors to be a Next Generation MILE Leader, a prestigious honor given to a select few.

Throughout his life, Trevor was active in his church. He was christened as a baby at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, and he was confirmed at the age of 14 at Advent Presbyterian Church. In his senior year of high school, Trevor grew in his involvement in the youth ministry at Advent. After graduation, he served as an intern and a committed adult volunteer. He enjoyed having helpful conversations with teenagers, leading on retreats, and teaching about faith. He excelled on mission trips to Houston, Honduras, eastern Tennessee, and around Memphis. Many students attest to Trevor’s incredible impact on their lives.

Since Trevor was an avid lover of the outdoors, he spent much of his time playing disc golf, as well as exploring national parks on vacations with his family. Most recently, Trevor was in the final stages of becoming an air traffic controller. He also had a keen interest in pursuing the Peace Corps, where he wanted travel to Thailand to work in the municipal development fund sector. Trevor’s main goal in life was to help those who were less fortunate than him, and he loved performing random acts of kindness whenever he could. Though his time on earth was short, Trevor leaves a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.

A visitation for Trevor will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A memorial service will occur Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A reception will occur Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.

The family ask that in Lieu of Flowers Contributions can be made to “The Trevor White #77 Humanitarian Scholarship.” If interested in donating to this fund, please make checks payable to “The Trevor White #77 Humanitarian Scholarship” and either give it to Susan or Randy.

The Peace Corps was also near and dear to his heart. He wanted to work with the municipal development fund sector using his degree in economics to help those who are less fortunate.
