Mr. Tommy Joseph Jones

Tommy dedicated 35 years of his life to working as a Carman for the Illinois Central Railroad, retiring after a long and successful career. In his retirement, he found joy in fishing, but his true passion was helping others. Tommy was the go-to handyman, painter, car mechanic, landscaper, and anything else that was needed—always willing to lend a hand to family and friends alike. He was a devoted caregiver, looking after his cousin Louis and his brother Oliver when they needed it most. His generosity of spirit and heart was unmatched, and he was beloved by all who knew him.

Tommy was especially fond of children and loved being a granddad to Chester and a great uncle to Lainey and Tyler. His kindness, warmth, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was married first to Joanne Rea, with whom he had a son, David Lawrence of Germantown. He later married Barbara Jones in 1970, and they shared many years together until her passing in 2023. Together, they had a daughter, Karen Diann of Maidstone, England. Tommy is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Landreth of Collierville.

Tommy spent most of his life in Collierville, but in recent years, lived in Byhalia, MS. He was predeceased by one sister, Joyce, and three brothers, Oliver, Richard, and Donald.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Andrews and StoryPoint for their care and support during Tommy's later years.

Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, selflessness, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A visitation for Tommy will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 106 Walnut St, Collierville, TN 38017. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2025, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 106 Walnut St, Collierville, TN 38017. A graveside service will occur Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 3:30 PM at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
