Thomas had a very successful career as a truck driver. One of his most notable achievements was being awarded with the 3 Million Miles Safe Driving award. After 32 years of dedication to the company he retired from Roadway Trucking. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed to fish and he loved to spend his time working in the yard.
Thomas is preceded in death by his daughter Karen Carr Cosper; his son Michael Carr; his parents John and Bessie Carr; and three brothers John Carr, Richard Carr, and Charles Carr.
Thomas leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years Barbara Carr. He will forever be remembered by grandchildren Julie Carr-Roberts (Travis), David Wayne Dixon, and Charles Wayne Carr as well as great-grandchildren Baley Alise Carr, Evan Thomas Carr, and Nathaniel Wayne Dixon – all of whom knew him as Papaw. Thomas is also survived by his sister Betty Smith (Gerald) and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 28th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with a graveside committal service to follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
