Thomas Redman Brockway Sr. died on Wednesday, October 11th in Memphis Tennessee at age 82. He was born on February 14th, 1941 in Jackson Mississippi. He was preceded in death by mother, Reva Pearl Van Horn Brockway Smith, father, Glen Redman Brockway, brother-in-law, Ronnie Dale Ellis of Memphis Tennessee and Brother-in-law, William Dean McReynolds, Jr. of Shelbyville Tennessee. Survivors include his wife Lynda Ellis Brockway, two sons, Thomas Redman Brockway Jr. and Brent Ellis Brockway. Two grandchildren, Brittney Brockway Reece (David) and Bradley Ellis Brockway. Great grandson, Rook Alexander Reece. Sister, Sally Brockway McReynolds of Shelbyville Tennessee and brother, Daniel Lee Brockway (Sherry) of McKinney Texas.
Tom graduated from Provine High School in Jackson Mississippi in 1959 and earned a degree in Forestry and Accounting at Mississippi State University. While at Mississippi State, he spent his summers leading hot shot crews to fight forest fires in California. He and his wife Lynda of 59 years settled in Memphis, Tennessee. He worked for Malone and Hyde where he managed the incentive and group travel division taking large groups all over the world. After 25 years he started his own business, Target Medical, Inc. with the help of his two sons.
Tom had a very active life with hobbies such as football, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, camping, riding on and off-road motorcycles and travel.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Page Robbins Adult Day Center, 1961 South Houston Levee Road, Collierville, TN 38017.
