It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sheila Gay Martin, who went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2023. Sheila was born on August 8, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Doug and Mary Powell.
Sheila lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. Her Christian faith was the guiding light throughout her journey, and she exemplified its teachings in every aspect of her life.
Sheila's endless love extended to her devoted husband, Chuck Martin, whom she shared a lifetime of cherished moments. Together, they built a foundation on their faith and love that was a testament to the strength of their marriage. Sheila took immense pride in her role as a mother to her two sons, Jason and Mark, and was a guiding presence in their lives. Her joy knew no bounds with the arrival of her six grandchildren, Taylor, Alexis, Colton, Haven, Kynlee, and Owen, whom she adored and spoiled with love and affection.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband, Chuck Martin, her cherished sons and their wives, Jason and Christy, and Mark and Kayla, her six adoring grandchildren, Taylor, Alexis, Colton, Haven, Kynlee, and Owen, her mother, Mary Powell, her sisters, Connie Linscott and Cathy Straub, her nephews, Don, Paul, Brandon, and niece, Lauren. She is predeceased by her father, Doug Powell.
The visitation to celebrate Sheila's life will be held on December 28, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will take place on December 29, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Susan G Komen Foundation, in memory of Sheila Martin.
