Robert Fellows Wood II

Bob was born July 17, 1926, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Howard Holmes Wood and Ruth Eleanor Erickson.

Bob graduated from Amherst College in 1949 after he had served in the US Navy from 1944-1946. After moving to Memphis, Tennessee shortly after graduation, he accepted a position at First National Bank, where he met Joan. They were married on October 4, 1952 and have four children - Robert, Ruth, Laura, and Mary.

Bob was blessed with a long career working as a sales representative for General Motors Corporation.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, his brother, John Howard Wood and his sister, Phoebe Ann Wood. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan Hellums Wood, his children Robert Fellows Wood III (Vicki), Ruth Elaine Wood, Laura Elizabeth Wood, and Mary Wood Langford (Jim), his grandchildren Robert Isaiah Wood (Natalie), Thomas Earl Wood, Grace Langford Abney (KC), Paul Suzuki Langford (Abby), Emily Joanna Langford, and Alexander Robert Langford, his great grandchildren Avery Grace Abney, Ella Joy Abney, Robert Jackson Wood, Georgia Rhea Wood, and Faye Elaine Langford, and his nieces Patsy Hendrickson (Terry) and Barbara Saxon (David).

Bob was a member of Grace Evangelical Church since soon after its founding. He served as an elder for many years and was blessed several years ago to be named an Elder Emeritus. Because of his love for God’s Word, he enjoyed being a member of Gideon’s International.

Bob loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and many friends. He loved sharing the Gospel message of grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Grace Evangelical Church, 9750 Wolf River Blvd., Germantown, TN 38139, from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Grace Venture at Grace Evangelical Church or Gideon’s International.
