ROBERT FINIS GRIFFIN, 92, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Methodist Hospital, Germantown. He was born in Clinton, KY on January 11, 1919. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Griffin and Mona Maple Griffin, and by his wife, Dorothy Ellen Griffin to whom he was married for 63 years. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and served his country throughout World War II, earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant before he was honorably discharged. He accepted a job in Memphis after the war and spent the rest of his life here. He was an architectural hardware consultant by profession, owned his own consultant business for a while, was a CPA, and finally retired from Modern Door and Hardware in 1988. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, square dancing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church. He is survived by his children, Robert F Griffin, Jr. (Linda, d), Martha Hughes (Vince), William M. Griffin (Beth); eight grandchildren, Robbie Hughes (Lorri), Wendy Alexander (Bill), Karen Callis (Hunter), Michael Griffin, John Griffin, Charles Griffin, Matthew Griffin, Bradley Griffin (Cassie); seven great-grandchildren, Austin Hughes, Alex Hughes, Allie Hughes, Madison Alexander, Will Alexander, Jacob Griffin, Colston Callis. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19 from 5-7 p.m. A Celebration of Life, with interment following, will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 20, all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
