Robert (Gene) Forsythe, 85, of Bartlett passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett. He was a retired logistics manager for Chromcraft Furniture Company in Senatobia, MS. Mr. Forsythe was an active member at Bellevue Baptist Church, where, for many years, he played the part of a “wise man” in the Singing Christmas Tree and served as a director of his Sunday School Class. He most loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as his family. Mr. Forsythe was a multitalented athlete, being a successful baseball pitcher for the US Air Force, as well as a Memphis Senior Publinx Champion. Even after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, his children kept him active in various sports, but walking around his neighborhood lake was his favorite. Mr. Forsythe remarkably maintained his self-taught ability of playing the piano even up to his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Crain Forsythe; his parents, John Arch and Frances Forsythe, and two brothers, John Forsythe and Charles Forsythe. Mr. Forsythe is survived by his children Dianne Dahlke of Bartlett, Robert Forsythe Jr. of Cape Girardeau, MO, Ginger Livingston of Greers Ferry, AR, Sandy Massey of Chattanooga, TN, and Ruth Ann Dix of Eads, TN; sister Rachel Forsythe Anderson; grandchildren, Blaire Lindsay, Ryne Dahlke, Tyler Massey, Houston Massey, Andrew Livingston, Taylor Dix, and Peyton Dix; great grandchildren, Jackson Lindsay and Loralee Lindsay; numerous loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, May 15, 2017 at Bellevue Baptist Church Pollard Chapel-Cordova with interment to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens. The family requests that memorials be sent to Bellevue Baptist Church world missions.
