Paul was born on January 10, 1962 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Jack Curtis and Rosala Krause. He married Janet Paige Walker on February 14, 1994 in Chattanooga, TN. He and Paige were later sealed for time and eternity in the Atlanta, GA temple in 1996. They were married for 28 years.
The Curtis family moved from the “Windy City” to rural Georgia early in Paul’s life and he grew up, for the most part, on the family farm. With little to do besides chores and all the vitality and imagination a young boy ever possessed, Paul’s family and friends delighted in hearing him tell of his childhood antics. From sliding down the barn roof until the seat of his pants wore out to swinging on second story window planters like monkey bars, Paul had a vivacious nature he carried with him throughout his life.
While he spent the last 25 years of his career in the field of Entomology, Paul was both professionally- and self-trained in a multitude of skills and could certainly be described as a renaissance man. In hobby and vocation alike he held titles including but not limited to: Musician, Published Author & Illustrator, Marksman, Artisan, Mechanic, Jeweler, TV Personality, Chef, Bounty Hunter, Locksmith, World Traveler, etc.
Paul was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was called to serve in many different capacities over the years. Whether as a Branch President, Counselor, or simply a member of the congregation, he frequently offered quiet, selfless acts of service to those around him. Although he would be the first to tell you of his own imperfection, Paul was a lifelong example of the fruits and personal growth that humble dedication to Christ-like living can bring.
Paul is preceded in death by his father Jack. He is survived by his wife Paige; five children and their spouses: Amy (Andy), Briana (Chris), Corey, Kenzie (Rafael), and Bethany; six grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Papa; his mother Rosala; and six siblings: Jack, Diane, April, Charles, Tim, and Chris.
