Patricia Marie La Porte, age 86, of Memphis, Tennessee (formerly of Camp Hill, Pa and now Bartlett/Memphis, Tn), passed peacefully on April 9, 2021. Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, William E. La Porte, Sr. She was the most loving and kind mother to her five children, Michelle Piscioneri (husband Dan), Patrice Thornton (husband Gary), Renee Dvorsky (husband Jim), William La Porte, Jr. (wife Louise) and Charles La Porte (wife Bernice), 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was a devout Catholic and her deep faith in God was present throughout her entire life and was manifested in the kind, loving and caring person that she was. Patricia was a friend to everyone she met and had many “adopted” children. She always had time to listen and help someone in need and always gave selflessly to others. Patricia loved people and had a great sense of humor, which she generously shared with all. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Tennessee, as well as a Secular Franciscan. While raising her family in Camp Hill, she was a member of and played the organ for Good Shepherd Catholic Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Patricia was born on June 26, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA. She was a graduate of Misericordia Nursing School and went on to earn a BS in Nursing from Millersville University and a Masters in Education from Temple University, Harrisburg. She retired from school nursing at the Carlisle Middle School and went on to spend many happy years of retirement in Delaware, Florida and Memphis with her husband.
Visitation will be held on April 11, 2021 at 5:00 pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. Funeral Mass will be held on April 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimney Rock Blvd, Cordova, TN. Committal Service atMemphis Funeral Home Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway Bartlett, TN. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
