Pleas Henry Sammons of Cordova, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday September 19, 2018. Mr. Sammons was born on December 24, 1931, in Eads, Tennessee to Autrey and Isabell Sammons. He was the youngest of seven children who preceded him in death, Aubrey Sammons, Forrest Sammons, Joseph Sammons, Cecil Sammons, Annie Laura (Sammons) Hudspeth, and Christopher Sammons.
Henry was a graduate of Collierville High School. He attended and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Major Animal Science in 1955. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree Major Accounting, and was in the ROTC, as well as studying numerous courses in financing, and real estate law and marketing. After his graduation Henry, joined and served as a 1st Lieutenant with the Army.
He retired after a 20 year career in real estate and an instructor for special courses with the University of Tennessee. He served as President of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association, Hickory Withe, the Men’s Pioneer Bible Class, at Bellevue Baptist church, and served in the Children’s’ department, Community Bible Study, in Somerville, TN.
Henry is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jeslyn Sammons, and her daughter, Laura Smith (Jay), one granddaughter, Shelby Lynne Smith, one son, David Sammons, and one daughter, Susan Laura Sammons.
The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time at 2pm, on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700, N Germantown Pky, Bartlett, TN 38133. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hickory Withe.
