Nelda Surratt Butler

Nelda Surratt Butler, 94, of Bartlett, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016. She was retired from Bartlett High School and was a member of Raleigh United Methodist Church for over 70 years. Mrs. Butler was the widow of Lawrence Butler and is survived by her two sons, Randall S. (Carolyn) Butler of Bartlett and Keith S. (Brenda) Butler of Brighton, TN; brother, Jamie D. Surratt of Galloway, TN; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Neal Butler; grandson, Robbie Mitchell; two sisters, Hilma Harrison and Nadine Surratt and a brother, Weldon Surratt. The family will receive guests this evening, Wednesday, December 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Mars Hill Cemetery in Adamsville, TN at 1:30 p.m. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Steve and Linda Hornaday, at Bartlett Residential Care Home, for their special love and outstanding care of Mrs. Butler over the last four years.
