Nancy Morris Smith, of Bartlett TN, entered her final resting place on August 1, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on August 11, 1947, in Pontotoc MS. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Smith, her mother Ruth P. Brigance, and her two brothers Robert and William Morris.
She is survived by her daughters, Tracie Hill and Christy Marcrum (Chris). She was known as Nanny to her granddaughters, Hailey Jenkins (Reiss), Payton Hill, and Sophie and McClaine Marcrum. She loved them so very much and was proud of them for all the great things they were doing with their lives.
She also leaves behind her beloved ‘Snowball’, who will continue to get lots of love and treats until the day comes for her to join her mom and dad in Heaven.
Nancy was blessed with her bonus family, which she is survived by, including her stepchildren Debbie Wiseman, Jerry, Terry, and Phillip Smith. She was known as Mamaw to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nancy was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church. She always looked forward to spending time with her Sunday School Class and participating in special events each week. She loved her Jesus and spent a good amount of time studying his word.
Before becoming her husband’s right hand ‘lady’ with helping him book shows and assisting him with promoting his book sales, Nancy enjoyed working in the healthcare field. She worked with Methodist Central Hospital and Frazier Family Counseling for several years.
Nancy’s gift to her children, grandchildren, family and friends was the gift of love. She loved us all and she always let us know by telling us, “I Love you More.” Even at the end, when she didn’t have the strength to get the words out, she would raise those eyebrows and squeeze our hands tight to let us know she truly loves us.
A gathering of family and friends for Nancy will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.
