Employment positions she held included secretary for the Memphis Police Department and Dobbs Bristol
Meyers Squibb Company, from which she retired.
Mary loved to work in her yard. She enoyed growing beautiful flowers and vegetables which she and her husband shared with everyone. They enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing. However, spending time with their family was the most important thing for both of them.
One of the first members of St. John Catholic Church, she was very active in many projects that benefited both the church and the school. Since 1969, she has been an active member at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, TN participating in many activities, such as Young at Heart and the Hospitality Group. Mary enjoyed greeting members at Sunday Mass and was one of the Church's oldest active greeters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 58 years, Fred; her parents, Carlo and Ernestine Cattaneo Gaia; six brothers, John (Helen) Gaia, Joe (Mary) Gaia, Louis (Ervel) Gaia, Pete (Mary) Gaia, Charles and Joseph Gaia. Shis is also preceded by five sisters; Josephie (Ernest) Ricci, Joanna (Jimmy) Freels, Ernestine (Guy) James, Theresa (Bill) Brown and Rosa Gaia.
Mary is survived by her two daughters; Charlotte (David) Siebert, Linda (Donald) Hamric; four grandchildren; Lauren (Angela Blake) Siebert, Karen (Aaron) Gwinnup, Matthew Siebert, Ross (Michelle) Hamric; five great grandchildren; Augustus Gaia Gwinnup, Egan James Gwinnup, Fiona Louise Kay Gwinnup, Thomas Cole Siebert, and Camden Edward Hamric.
Services will be held December 21, 2019 at St. Ann Catholic Church at 6529 Stage Road, Bartlett, TN. Visitation will begin at 9:00, followed by a Funeral Mass with internment at Memorial Gardens at 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN. A reception for family and friends will be held at Madonna Hall at
St. Ann Catholic Church.
Memorials may be sent to St. Ann Catholic Church Building Fund, Ave Maria Foundation, Baptist Reynolds Hospice House or the charity of the donor's choice.
