Mark Steve Olson, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away Tuesday March 7, 2023. Mark was born October 3, 1960 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. His parents were Frederick Rockwell Olson and Karen Correll Olson. The family of three moved to Alexandria Virginia for six months Army training, six months after he was born , for his father, then back to Milwaukee, where his sister Sara was born, less than 16 months after Mark. They were instantly best friends. Sara passed away on June 18, 2020.
The family was transferred to Louisville Kentucky, by Exxon, where Rock was an engineer. Twenty months later, they transferred him to Memphis, which is home now.
Mark graduated from Immanuel Lutheran school and Craigmont high school. Mark started playing golf with child size clubs at three years old. He was an excellent golfer and played on the Craigmont golf team. Mark won many tournaments and had at least one hole in one. Mark played football for Raleigh Bartlett Meadows as quarterback. He was on a Shelby Youth Sports team. He loved to watch football and golf on tv.
Mark was a loving, kind and compassionate man, with a great smile and personality. He was more than a son to Karen and Murray, he was a cherished friend.
He is survived by his mother Karen Olson Creasy, step-father W. Murray Creasy, adopted daughter Gennie Henry, and her three children, and one brother, one sister, four step-sisters, Rebecca, Angie, Marilyn and Christy, and his cat Brandi, who was a very good friend. Mark was preceded in death by his father, F. R. Olson, Sara Olson Page, Tess Watson, and his maternal grandparents Jane and Charles (Mac) Correll, and great aunt Alice Baldwin.
Mark worked in construction all his life, his most recent work was for Chandler Demolition, as a heavy equipment operator, he loved his work and his co-workers.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Sunday, March 12th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 2:00pm.
