Linda Kay McAtee, age 75, passed away on April 27, 2024, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Born to John and Margie Revell in Troy, Tennessee, along with her twin, Glenda Fay, she was known primarily as Linda but had many other nicknames. She earned the nickname, Tarzan, from the neighborhood kids growing up in Union City because she was fearless and as competitive as any boy around. To her loving husband, Claude J. McAtee, she was known as The Killer or Queen Bee. She was Mom to her daughters, Amy Casper, and Laura McAtee Johnson. Meemaw was the nickname that her four grandchildren, Jones Casper, Holly Casper, Ethan Johnson, and Addison Johnson, called when they wanted to see her smile or hear her tell a joke.
Linda was one of the five Revell children and loved to laugh with her siblings, Mike (Susan) Revell, Glenda Acree, Pat (Sandy) Revell, and Tim (Pam) Revell. She was a graduate of Union City High School. As freshmen, Linda and Glenda, started on the varsity women’s basketball team. In 1964, Linda was an All-Region player and in 1966, she hustled to get the most rebounds on the Tornadoes team. She also played softball during her high school years.
In February of 1968, she married the love of her life, Claude, whom she nicknamed C.J., at Harris Methodist Church in Union City, Tennessee. As a homemaker, she had many hobbies over the years including tole painting, bowling, macrame, judo and reading. She especially loved reading her Bible as her faith in God was very strong.
Predeceased by her parents and her husband, Linda’s memory is honored by her siblings, her daughters, and her grandchildren. She will be forever held close in their hearts.
Services to celebrate Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with a memorial service starting at 2 pm. All friends and family are welcome. A donation to Bartlett’s Closet or charity of your choice in lieu of flowers to honor Linda is appreciated.
