We mourn the passing of Lewis Edward Boan, a man whose presence was a comforting constant in our lives. While his memory brings a pang of sadness, it also evokes a warmth that reflects the enduring power of his kindness and a personality brimming with unexpected delights.
Lewis was born on April 30,1934 to A.E and Anna Louis Boan in Coleman, Texas.
He worked in financial institutions in Texas prior to moving to Memphis, Tennessee to begin his banking career at First Federal Savings & Loan. He retired in 1992 as President of First Federal Savings and Loan, now known as BankTennessee. After retirement Lewis moved to Arkansas. There, he embraced the freedom to pursue his passions, spending countless hours traveling and casting lines alongside the love of his life, Bobra Boan. He eventually returned to Mason, Tennessee where he spent the remainder of his life enjoying riding his tractor, gardening, going on cruises and ballroom dancing.
Beyond his faith, Lewis found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished the time spent outdoors, especially behind the wheel of his tractor, meticulously mowing his yard. This wasn't just a chore for him; it was a ritual, a chance to connect with nature and take pride in his surroundings. He poured the same dedication into his garden, nurturing life from the soil and generously sharing the fruits (and vegetables!) of his labor with friends, neighbors, and family.
Lewis's passing leaves a void in our community, a void that can never be truly filled. However, his legacy of faith, kindness, and unexpected charm will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Let us remember him not for the "tough guy" he sometimes pretended to be, but for the generous, loving, and surprisingly tender "big marshmallow" he truly was. He taught us the importance of faith, the beauty of simple pleasures, and the power of a truly kind heart. May his memory be a blessing, and may we all strive to embody the best qualities he displayed throughout his life.
Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Bobra Boan, his parents A.E and Anna Louise Boan and one brother Paul Boone. He is survived by his two daughters, Louann Aldridge of Burnsville, North Carolina and Dena B Linton of Cordova. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
