Leslie Richard Weiser, 79, went to his heavenly home Thursday, December 8, 2022. He lived most of his life in Memphis, TN after previous calls in Russellville, AR and Murphysboro, IL during his years in the ministry as a Lutheran Pastor.
A native North Dakotan, he was born in Mandan, ND and grew up spending his early years working on the family farm in Hazelton, ND. He graduated from Hazelton High School in 1961 and continued his education at Dickenson State College, in Dickenson, ND. In 1965 he graduated from Dickenson State with a B.S. degree in Secondary Education with majors in English and Music. Les worked in the public school system until the fall of 1968 when he enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, IL.
Les was a member of Grace Celebration Lutheran Church, in Cordova, TN and enjoyed worshipping and serving anywhere he was needed. He enjoyed all things music, from singing, to directing cantatas, listening to Southern Gospel groups, and working the sound board at church. As an avid Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies fan, Les enjoyed attending and watching games, proudly wearing his Memphis blue!
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Stephanie (Berreth) Weiser, Memphis, TN; three children
Shawn (Michelle) Weiser, Carmen (Jennifer Windham) Weiser and Kerry Weiser of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Landon Weiser, Delray Beach, FL and Kellan Weiser, Memphis, TN; brother, Bill (Corrine) Weiser, Sparks, NV; and sister Priscilla (Chuck) Baker, West Alice, WI.
Les was preceded in death by his parents G. Richard (Cora) Weiser, Hazelton, ND and brother, Thomas (Sharon) Weiser, Moorhead, MN.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday December 16, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Rd Bartlett, TN 38133. Celebration of Life service will be helb Saturday December 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Grace Celebration Lutheran Church, 8601 Trinity Rd Cordova, TN 38016.
Memorials may be sent to Friends of Faith Ministry, 4210 Alturia Rd, Suite 115, Bartlett TN, 38135, a ministry for adults with special needs. Son Kerry continues to be a member of this ministry and Les helped support the ministry making wood cutouts for their projects.
