Kenneth B. Cox, 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 10, after a sudden illness. Ken was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky to Marion B. and Mary E. Cox. After graduating from Butler High School, he attended Union University, where he was the manager for the baseball team, and was Junior and Senior Class President.
After graduation, Ken coached football at Bolivar Jr. High for 8 years. Feeling God’s call on his life, Ken served as the Youth and Activities Director at First Baptist Church in Bolivar. He then was called to Bartlett Baptist Church where he served as Youth and Activities Director and later Church Administrator.
After being blessed with the opportunity to design and supervise the construction of Buckhead Creek Recreation Complex in Bartlett, Ken joined the staff of Faith Baptist Church as Recreation Director, where he diligently worked for 18 years to create a successful sports and recreation program. Ken strongly believed that the message of Christ could be shared through the means of church recreation, and he dedicated his life to that endeavor.
Ken had a deep love for his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Diane McCraw Cox, children, Brian (Laura), Mandy Webb, and Kim Williamson (Reath) and 6 grandchildren: Kenny and Lucas Cox, Ella and Emme Williamson, and Lyric and Easton Webb. He also leaves countless friends who will remember his generous spirit and his servant heart.
