Joseph Francis Ackerman III

Joseph Francis Ackerman, III of Oakland, Tennessee formerly of Alton, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett. He was formerly the Dean of Academics at The University of Phoenix-Memphis Campus and professor of the former State Tech, veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and was presently attending Holy Spirit Lutheran Church-Oakland, TN. Mr. Ackerman is survived by his sons, Joseph Francis Ackerman, IV (Emily) of Smyrna, TN, Jason Alan Ackerman of Oakland, TN and Joshua Thomas Ackerman of Millington, TN; brother, Jeffrey M. Ackerman (Amy) of Brighton, IL; sisters, Elizabeth E. Knehans (Wendell) of St. Louis, MO and Jennifer L. Newell (Kevin) of Alpharetta, GA; his parents, Joseph F. Ackerman, Jr and Edna M. Ackerman of Dadeville, AL; and also several beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN.. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church-Oakland, Tennessee
