John Daniel Scott

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John “Dan” Scott of a beloved

husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and veteran who passed away on May

5, 2023.

Born and Raised in Terre Haute, IN, Dan led a full and admirable life, leaving behind a

legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. After completing his education at Rose

Hulman School of Technology, he enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers and achieved

the rank of Second Lieutenant, serving his country with distinction and honor.

Beyond his military service, Dan was a man of many passions. He had a beautiful

singing voice and was often heard whistling his favorite tunes. He had a great love for

sports, always rooting for his favorite teams and players. He was also an avid card

player, often gathering his friends and family for a lively game of bridge. And of course,

his sweet tooth was legendary, with his love for chocolate being well-known among all

who knew him.

Dan is survived by his wife Rosaline “Rosie” Scott, his sons Kurt, Steve and Craig Scott

(Melanie), 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. And daughter, Kathy Dooge, who

preceded him in death.

A memorial mass will take place at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, TN on Monday,

May 15, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:30am and memorial mass at 10:00am.
