It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jerry Winsett James, 63, of Cordova, TN. After battling an illness, he passed late Monday evening surrounded by those who loved him dearly - his wife and children. He was born in Lincoln, NE on September 15, 1961, to Frances Ann Winsett and James William James.
A proud graduate of Craigmont High School and the University of Memphis, Jerry earned a degree in Architecture Science. Over the course of a distinguished 40-year career, he worked with prominent architectural firms, including ANFA, Renaissance Group, Crump Firm, Grinder Haizlip Construction, and concluded his career as President of Business Development at A2H. His work in architecture was a reflection of his passion for design and his dedication to shaping communities.
Jerry leaves behind his loving wife, Michelle James; his children, Grant James (Casey), Nick James, Madeline Tisdale Carter (Corbin), and Mary Tisdale Gran (Gus); as well as his grandchildren, Lola Carter, Sage Gran, Cecelia Carter, Woodrow Gran, Charlotte Carter, and Collins Carter. He is also survived by his sister, Jenny Bowman, and his brother, Jim James.
For 20 years, Jerry was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church and participated as a volunteer for special events. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he was cherished by the church community.
In his free time, Jerry was a passionate Grizzlies fan and season ticket holder, enjoying the camaraderie of other fans. He loved fishing, traveling, music, and spending time with his grand dogs, all of which brought him great happiness.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his sister-in-law, Song James.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for his family will continue to inspire those he left behind.
