He was born to the late Lucian and Eldis Hammons on May 23rd, 1932 in Hebron, Tennessee. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Neola Chisholm; and his brothers, James Paul Hammons, Roger Wayne Hammons, and Donald Dean Hammons.
Jasper enlisted into the United States Army and retired after 30 years. After his military career, he went to work for the Veteran’s Administration of Memphis for 30 years. His job for the last years was Mobility World Wide. He always started the day with prayer and always served the Lord.
Jasper is survived by his wife of 59 and a half years, Shirley Hammons; his daughter, Lisa McClinton (Michael); his grandchildren, Avery and Audree McClinton; his sisters, Dorothy Marie Ehrett, Linda Joyce McClure; his brothers, Marc Gwin Hammons, Emergene Lucian Hammons, and Virgil Ray Hamons (Wanda).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobility Worldwide, P.O. Box 26, Bartlett, TN 38029 or to the American Heart Association.
Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, June 25th at Ellendale Baptist Church, 3861 Broadway Road, Bartlett, TN. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am.
