Janet Lee Tidwell, 72, of Tupelo, MS, passed away on December 9, 2023. She was born on September 26, 1951, in Memphis, TN, to the late Charles (Joe) and Alma Rebecca (Becky) Thompson. Janet was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known for her hardworking nature, as well as her caring and compassionate personality.
Janet had a successful career in the medical field, starting as a Registered Nurse at Baptist Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN. She then went on to become the Vice President of Nursing at Methodist Hospital Germantown, TN. Janet held positions as the Director of Surgery at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, IN, and North Mississippi Medical Center. She also served as the Director of Surgery at HCA Hendersonville in Hendersonville, TN. Janet dedicated her knowledge and expertise as a Professor at Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis, TN, and later worked in Risk Management at Baptist Hospital in Desoto, MS until her retirement. She continued her passion for nursing as a Registered Nurse at Baptist Hospital Booneville, MS.
Janet's educational background includes graduating from Central High School in Memphis, TN in 1969. She furthered her education at the University of Tennessee-Martin, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Janet went on to pursue her Masters in Science of Nursing at the University of Tennessee-Memphis, and a Master's of Health Science Administration at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
In addition to her successful career, Janet served her country as a member of the United States Army Reserves for four years.
Outside of work, Janet enjoyed counted cross-stitch, reading, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment with them.
Janet is survived by her ex-husband, Roy Lynn Tidwell; her daughters, Teresa Cesavice (Chris) and Amanda Daugherty (Michael); her grandchildren, Nathan Tidwell David Rhoden, Ashley Rhoden, Joseph Daugherty, and Madalynn Daugherty; and her great-grandchildren, Tyson Tidwell, Jaxon Tidwell, and Mazikeen Rhoden. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles (Joe) Thompson, her mother, Alma Rebecca (Becky) Thompson, and her sister, Nancy Miser.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Memphis Funeral Home/Memorial Gardens, located at 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN, at 1pm, followed by a service at 2pm.

A visitation for Janet will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
