Edward A. Morton, 50, of Memphis, passed away at his home on Monday, February 25, 2013. He was retired from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department after 28 years of service, was a member of the Oakville and Park Ave. Masonic Lodge, York and Scottish Rite, where he held numerous positions, Shriner in the Hillbilly Unit, a member of Toastmasters, was a member of First Baptist Church in Millington and was a graduate of Briarcrest. Mr. Morton is survived by his sister, Anita Morton of Memphis and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phares and Gloria Morton and grandparents, Harvey and Lucille Nowell and Phares and Martha Morton. The family will receive friends this evening, Wednesday, February 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Masonic rites will be given at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 28 at Faith Baptist Church (across from the funeral home). There will not be a public committal service. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or to the Shriner’s.
