David Duane Hansen, 96, of Memphis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home. He was born in Clinton, Iowa where he spent his youth, graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in chemical engineering. He was a U.S. Navy Lieutenant in WW II. His adult life was spent in Arlington Heights, IL, Shreveport, LA, Rogers, AR and briefly in several other locations, moving to Memphis in early 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Theodore Hansen; a sister, Audrey Hansen and a brother, Dr. Raoul Hansen. Mr. Hansen is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn Lois Hansen; his son, David Keith Hansen (Lisa); and grandsons, Jesse and Sebastian Hansen, all of Memphis. He enjoyed golf, (had three holes-in-one) and football played by University of Iowa, was a singles and doubles champion tennis player in high school and was a member of St Ann Catholic Church. Mr. Hansen was also a member of the National Chemical Society and Rotary International. The family will receive guests Monday evening, July 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 Germantown Rd.
