Dorothy Stuart Freeman has gone to join her loved ones in Heaven. She was born on February 18, 1926 in Memphis, TN. Dot was a graduate of Memphis State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She lived most of her life in Bartlett TN, where she taught at Elmore Park Elementary until her retirement. Being so well respected in the community, she actually had "Dorothy Freeman Day" declared in her honor. Required to travel extensively when her husband was in the Navy, from Virginia to Key West, she also was blessed to be able to travel for fun later in life. She and Charles traveled throughout the states as well as taking island cruises and trips to European countries.
She devoted her life to her family. She is the widow of Charles Edward Freeman, Sr., a US Navy Chief. Blessed into this union were two children, Charles Edward Freeman, Jr. (Linda) and Elizabeth Freeman Brown (Bill). Her beloved grandchildren, Lee Freeman (Michelle) and Stacey Harper filled her life like nothing else. She was a great-grandmother who was also very loved by Dalton Harper as well as Nicolas and Nathan Freeman.
Dot had a great faith in God and was a faithful member of Bartlett United Methodist Church where she was involved in many church activities and clubs. All who met her were impressed by her grace, warmth and comfort. It can truly be said that she always put the needs of others before herself and Heaven has indeed gained another angel.
Dot also leaves behind a sister, Ann Pyron (Maurice), nephew David (Donna) and niece Susan Thornburg. Her sister-in-law, June Vance, Tommy's widow was very special to her and was always like another sister. June's daughters, Karen Stuart ( Richard Wheeler) and Nancy Stuart were very close to her and always there for her if she needed them. Another special person in her life was her lifelong friend since their school days, Jeane Fullerton.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Edward Freeman, Sr. and her brothers Thomas and Robert Stuart.
There will be a graveside service with masks required. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Al Chymia Shrine Transportation Fund or to Bartlett United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
