Dorothy Jean Carter

Dorothy Jean Carter, 75, of Memphis, left this earth on Monday, at 12:50 a.m., January 30, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis. Ms. Carter was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Janice Stewart, and Diane Carter both of Memphis; her six sons, Louis Black of Denver, Henry Carter of Memphis, Carroll Carter of Las Vegas, Melvin Carter of Bentonville, AR, Phillip Carter of Memphis, and Gerald Carter of Memphis; her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Carter of Flint, MI. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens (formerly Memory Hill Gardens).
