Donald was known as a dependable family man. He and his wife would host family dinners every Sunday. He was a faithful member of Colonial Baptist Church until he moved away later in life. He met and married the love of his life, Gloria Jones, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just four days before she passed.
Donald began Business College in the mid-50s and after a couple of years he found himself becoming proficient in the Chessie System with B&O Railroad. He retired from B&O in 1982 and began a role with GST Corp. In 2003 he retired once more as their Regional Sales Mgr. Since then Donald enjoyed the same things he did as a young man – fishing with his sons and playing golf.
In addition to his parents Donald is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jones and his son Donald Ray Jones, Jr. Donald is survived by two sons Mike Jones (Dee), Steve Jones (Shelly); five grandchildren Angie (John), Chris, Haley, Kyle, and Corey; and three great-grandchildren Lexie, Jake, and MaKayla.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, March 4th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133. The funeral service for Mr. Jones will begin at 2:00pm with a graveside committal service to follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
