She had a very hard childhood growing up in Pinson, Tennessee outside of Henderson on a farm where she picked cotton. In her teenage years, she worked in a sweatshop pants factory before moving to Memphis where she worked in the bookkeeping department.
However, she married and she put her career on hold when she had her only son that she raised. She participated in many school events including being a volunteer room mother/tutor. She tried many hobbies including toll painting, and she loved to care for her flowers.
Later, she went back to work using her abundant people skills to work for a meat broker selling to Deli’s and Meat Markets traveling all over the city.
She later became a fierce advocate and caregiver for her special needs brother Tommy Carl until his passing. She was a source of knowledge and common sense for all who loved her and met her.
She made her loving son who he is today, and for that he will always love her for eternity. Her husband Paul, son Michael, and sisters, Peggy Pickett, and Cheryl Hearn survive her.
