Clarence Alton Brown, 90, passed away peacefully at home in the company of his beloved wife, Ruby, in Bartlett, TN, on October 19, the day after numerous family and friends celebrated his 90th birthday. Brown, a double veteran--Navy, World War II, and Army--and a retiree of the U.S. Corps of Engineers, was born in Golddust, TN, the third son of Clarence Franklin and Willie Sue Stone Brown on Oct. 18, 1927.
Clarence married Ruby Neal in 1948. He is survived by three children, Terrence, married to Millie ( Lakeland), Mickey, married to Susie ( Southaven), and Cathy, married to Stephen Gassert (Lawrenceville, GA). Additionally, the Browns have 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday October 23, 2017 from 11 A.M. until service time. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon; all at Ellendale United Methodist Church, 7205 Centralia Road, Memphis, TN 38135. Interment will follow at Ripley Memorial Gardens in Ripley, Tennessee.
In consideration of Clarence's long-time membership in Ellendale Methodist Church, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Ellendale United Methodist or Hurricane Hill Methodist Church in Ripley, TN.
