Chester Lee Allison Jr.

He is survived by Barbara his wife, Daughter Elizbeth Stacy (Eric), Son Joshua Allison (Kelly), his nine grandchildren; Ben, Emily, Stella, Evelyn, Kenley (KK), Fielding, Cohen, Hadden, and baby Hollis. He is also survived by his mother Pattie Reed Allison, Sisters, Pamela Moore, Elsie Craft, Brother Cary. Preceded in death by his father, Chester Lee Allison Sr.

A little about his childhood. In 1969 he met Jerry Corder and began a great friendship. Jerry said “we had a great time growing up, always playing baseball, football, and basketball. When Chuck was younger, a neighbor, Mrs. Graham would babysit them in the summertime. She would chase Chuck around with an orange plastic hot wheels track! Chuck would run away laughing.” Chuck was very protective of his sisters while growing up and he brought them everywhere.

In Junior High School, he was in the marching band playing the trombone. He also attended the civil air patrol to learn how to work on airplanes throughout high school. During High school, he was very active in the ROTC and really enjoyed helping others thrive to their potential.

When he was in his teens, he would take Pam to her Air Force ROTC field trips to the base in Blytheville, Arkansas. While on some of these trips, Chuck and Barbara met. At the time Barbara was not interested. When Barbara attended her brother Georges and Chucks sister Pam’s graduation, he approached Barbara’s parents to ask if he could take her to dinner with Pam and her friend. After this dinner, years passed by.

Barbara went to Kroger for snacks, and she ran into Chuck since he was working there at the time. While talking to Barbara, he asked her to come over to the house to talk more. So, Tonya (Barbara’s Friend) was dating Chucks brother and was heading to a movie with Barbara, and they decided to stop by Chucks house to say hello. During this moment, Chuck decided to make his move and invite them out to dinner before the movie and attend the movie with them. You could consider this the moment that mattered, Chuck and Barbara were never apart since that moment.

Chuck married Barbara on December 3rd, 1983 in Memphis. After a few months married, he decided to enlist in the Navy in 1984. He was an aviation warfare machinist. He came into the Navy with the F/14 Tomcat and retired after 20 years with the Tomcat. His Career spanned from 1984 to 2004 and he got to spend time inside two historic squadrons, VF101 (Grimm reapers) and VF 103 (Jolly Rogers). His highlight of his career was the birth of his two children, Elizabeth and Joshua which is why he stayed with the Navy. This helped him provide and take care of his most prized possessions.

After he was retired, Chuck attended Tidewater Community College, class of 2014 and then enrolled into Old Dominion University. During his pursuit of his bachelor’s degree, Chuck's Mother-in-Law (Patricia) got sick with ALS and decided to move back to Memphis. This would help allow his sunshine to help care for her mother. After the death of Patricia, Chuck found out that he developed Multiple Myeloma Cancer. This is a cancer that has no cure. This caused a secondary cancer of the bones. A year after diagnosis, Chuck received a stem cell transplant but that was a bad thing to do. The stem cell transplant set off a series of events that would forever change things. After the Stem Cell he should have only been in the hospital for 10 days but stayed for over 9 months. During this stem cell failure Chuck had a temp of 109.7 fever for days and his kidneys took a beating, but Chuck fought and came home. Years later his heart had too much damage and Barbara had to call 911 twice and take Chuck to the ER 4 times.

This last ER trip was at Saint Francis where he ended up in the ICU for almost 4 tough weeks. This was the stay that took Chuck to be with the lord, His wife Barbara and children had their hands on him as he took his last breaths with his family in attendance. This fight was fought for over 9 years and Chuck never once took his eyes off Jesus.

REST IN PEACE MY LOVE!!

Jesus had his arms open for you throughout all of this and welcomed you home.

A funeral service for Chester will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bartlett Woods Church of Christ, 7900 Old Brownsville Road, Arlington, TN 38002.
