Charlotte Free Pumroy, age 65, of Bartlett, TN, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Charlotte was born July 28, 1955 in Memphis, TN. She was a very devout Christian, active member of Wells Station Baptist Church for 43 years, where she taught Sunday School, children's department director, personnel chairman, choir member, clerk, and church secretary. Charlotte also was a Boy Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader for 30 years of Pack 200 for the Chickasaw Council BSA. She was a Woodbadge Fox, OA, and had been awarded the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. Mrs. Pumroy was a Rainbow Girl and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very active in the Bible Study Fellowship and volunteered for several years with the Shelby County Elections.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Elton A Free and Bertha Mae Free, and three grandchildren; Kimberly Lynn, Kristina Marie, and Mackenzie Faith. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard D. Pumroy, three sons; John Pumroy (Elizabeth), David Pumroy, and Mark Pumroy, nine grandchildren; Nakole, Christian, Kadin, Ashton, Brayden, Zoey, Mackenzie (Joe), Jake, and Sarah Jane, three great grandchildren, Presley, Evie, and Ella Raine. She also leaves one sister, Debi Free Gunter (Mike), a sister-in-law, Judy Knisley, two aunts; Charlene Shockley and Janice Moore, and three nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm, on Monday, December 28, 2020, with a funeral service at 2pm, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, all to be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway Bartlett, TN 38133.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Wells Station Baptist Church or Chickasaw Council BSA.
