Charles Butler, age 84, died on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Methodist Hospice Residence. He was born August 15, 1927 to the late Jerry and Alma Butler in Etowah, AR. After honorably serving 2 tours in the Navy during World War II and one tour in the Korean War, he settled in the Memphis area and worked as a trim carpenter. After he retired, he attended Raleigh United Methodist Church, worked in his community, and spent time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Vannie (Kate) Butler. He is survived by his step son, Ernest Hicks (Kay), his grandchildren, Robert Hicks (Lori), and Tina McNeill (Greg), and one great-grandson Joshua. A celebration of his life will be held at 12 PM on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens with interment to follow.
