She was born to the late Walter and Wanda Cook on January 1st, 1943 in Oran, Missouri. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Gary Mercer; her son, Steven Lane Mercer; brother, Larry Cook; and her sister, Darlene Worley.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Karri Wilmore (Kyle), Shawna Burk (Glenn); grandchildren, Karlie Burk Warner (Bradley), Callie Wilmore, Parker Burk, Maddie Wilmore; her brother, Gary Cook (Caroline); her aunt Perdenia “Tincen” Davis; and her beloved friend Calvin Hillin.
Mom spent her entire life witnessing and striving to be a Godly wife, mother, and friend. Her prayer was that others would see Jesus in her. Family meant the world to her and she loved us dearly, never missing an opportunity to point out a “God thing” and reminding us to be thankful. Mom loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, even more and treasured her quiet, one-on-one time with Him daily. She spent countless hours on her screened in porch reading and studying God’s word, and thanking Him for all her multitude of blessings. We are comforted knowing she is in Heaven and encouraged by Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
