Carl Daniel Bankston, 71, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He was born on September 13, 1952 in Franklin County, Alabama to Edsell and Savannah Bankston and the family moved to Memphis when Carl was 3 years old.
Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force. He worked at Old Dominion as a shop manager. Carl enjoyed his fish aquariums, gardening, playing solitaire, watching the show Swamp People and was a die hard Oakland Raiders fan.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Karen Bankston; children Robert Bankston, Kirsten Homeyer and Justin Bankston; grandchildren, Catherine Castilo, Sarah Waddell, Vaughn Waddell, Shelby Bankston, Carter Bankston, Mya Bankston, Macy Bankston; great grandson, Camden Castilo;and brother, Edsell Bankston.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jon Michael Bankston; parents Edsell and Savannah Bankston; brothers, Mike Bankston and Durell Bankston.
A gathering of family and friends for Carl will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Harmony Church of Bartlett, 6740 St Elmo Rd, Bartlett, TN 38135. A committal service will occur Thursday, November 16, 2023 following the service at Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
