Edward, a lifelong Memphian, was born on July 23, 1941 to the late Edward Albert & Anna Maupin Keating. He graduated from Whitehaven High School class of 1959 and then went to Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi where he received his Bachelor's Degree in history. He was in the United States Marine Corps., Reserve.
Carey met Drucilla Collins through a mutual friend and they married in 1963. Dru and Carey were members of Thrifthaven Baptist Church for over 30 years and now are members of Central Baptist Church. His professional career he worked and retired from P.M.S.C. (Plant Maintenance Service Corporation).
Along with his parents, Carey was preceded in death by two granddaughters; Bonnie & Sophie.
His memory is carried on with his wife of 61 years Drucilla "Dru" Keating; children Georgia Kowald of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, David (Betsy) Keating of Georgetown, Kentucky and Daniel (Mitzi) Keating of Bartlett, Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Mark, Katie, Luke, Taylor, Charlie, York, and Jed; one great-granddaughter Phoebe June; two sisters Sharon & Susan; his uncle G.A. and aunt Tootie.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, October 21 from nine o'clock until funeral services begin at ten o'clock in the morning all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown, Tennessee 38133. Pastor Chris Tomlin will lead the services of the day.
Any memorials in Carey's honor should be sent to Central Baptist Church Academy.
