Bobby Lynn Montgomery, 89, of Brighton, TN was born February 28, 1935, in Bee Branch, Arkansas to Clara and Herbert Montgomery, who have preceded him in death. He left this world to be present with the Lord on October 8, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Doris E. Montgomery of 68 years. He leaves behind 3 children, Lynne (David) Archer of Brighton, TN, Richard (Vicki) Montgomery of Bartlett, TN, and William (Lori) Montgomery of Smyrna, TN. Bobby is a retired Captain from the Memphis Fire Department, following 30 years of service. He served in the Air National Guard for 8 years and retired from the US Coast Guard after 19 years. He was a retired Deacon at Brighton Baptist Church for 20+ years and had such a passion for ministering to the men at the Tipton County Jail. He was such a bright light, shining for Jesus and we would be remiss not to ask – Are you right with the Lord?
If you knew him, you know he always had a story to tell, an adventure to share, or a tidbit of advice to either warn or help you along the way-whether you wanted it or not. He was a collector of all things, a sharer of all things, and a lover of his family. He had a passion for carving, a passion for entertaining and making people laugh, smile, and feel comfortable. He could dance like no other. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons.
