Bobby Lee McGee went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 86 years of age. He was born December 6, 1936. He was preceded in death by his father, William Lee McGee, his mother, Frances Roberts McGee, his sister, Juanita McGee Dodson, and his beloved grandson Vito Angelo Daniele.
Bobby graduated from Nicholas Blackwell High School in Bartlett, TN. After High School, he attended Memphis State for two years. He was drafted into the Army and served two years before receiving an honorable discharge. Bobby worked full-time at both Kroger (36 years) and the City of Memphis Fire Department (30 years). After his retirement, he moved to Pickwick Lake and lived there for 20 years. He loved living on the lake. Bobby was an active member at First Baptist Church, Counce. While attending church in Counce, he became a member of the International Gideons and he felt this was a great honor. In 2015, Bobby moved back to the Memphis area and settled in Collierville. He then attended Germantown Baptist Church.
Bobby had a big family and many friends. He will be missed by many. Bobby is leaving behind his loving wife of 57 years, Janice Teague McGee and four adoring daughters, Brenda Hill (Selma), Michelle Patton (Randy), Kim Vohs (Dan) and Lori Daniele (Nick); eight grandchildren, Erin Patton Harris (Zeke), Noah Patton, Francesca Daniele Berryhill (Sean), Katerina Daniele, Gianmarco Daniele (Madelyn) Anna Marie Vohs, Denny Vohs and Olivia Vohs. Three great grandchildren, A.J. Berryhill, Rocco Berryhill and Vito Angelo Daniele. Bobby raised a teenaged nephew, Robert Dodson, after his sister passed away.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 1 pm until 2 pm, a funeral service will begin at 2 pm at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bobby’s honor to the Germantown Baptist Church Renovation Fund.
