Ava J. Schneiter (nee McCullough) peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2025 in Johnston, IA, surrounded by her family. Ava is survived by her three children, Rory (Debbie) Schneiter of Johnston, IA; Ron Schneiter of Memphis, TN; and Allison (Michael) Passaglia of Delafield, WI; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters and 1 great-granddaughter expected in early June, Malia. Ava was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert Schneiter.
Ava enjoyed living in the Cordova and Collierville, TN areas for 30 years. During those years she was active at both St. Paul United Methodist Church in various ministries and bible studies and Bellevue Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Robert Schneiter to Alaska, France, Belguim and many trips to visit her grandchildren in Iowa and Wisconsin. After the death of her husband in 2004, her joy came from time spent with family celebrating holidays, birthdays and especially July 4th with her extended family watching fireworks on the lake in WI. She enjoyed her “lunch bunch” that met often for food, conversation and card playing. She also enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO for Christmas shows and FL with friends. Ava was involved with Chapter U of PEO, a philanthropic and educational organization. She served as the Chapter President from 2002-2004 and held several other offices throughout her involvement.
She had recently moved from Collierville, TN to Johnston, IA to be closer to more family. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life includes visitation @10:30 to 11 am and service @ 11am on Monday, May 5, 2025. A luncheon will be hosted by the family immediately following the service at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy., Bartlett, TN. In honor of our mom’s memory, we ask that you wear her favorite color, blue. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to PEO-Chapter U Scholarship Fund, c/o Nan Rountree, 734 Deans Creek Dr., Collierville, TN 38017.
