Annie Wilkins

Annie McAdams Wilkins, 82 retired from Shelby County Schools, passed away on August 1, 2011. Mrs. Wilkins was born on a train bound for Texas on September 23, 1928. She was the only child of Marcus and Lillie Belle McAdams. She grew up in Jacks Creek, TN, attended Lambuth College and began teaching at Chester Co. High School. Mrs. Wilkins was a Guidance Counselor at Bartlett High School for 25 years, where she also served as cheerleading sponsor for a number of nationally ranked squads. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Sixth Marine Division Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Claud Harold Wilkins. She is Survived by her son, Mark Harold Wilkins of Memphis; daughter, Ann Wilkins Hendren; son-in-law, Steven; grandchildren Christopher, Melissa and Nicholas Hendren all of Bartlett. The family will receive friends on Thursday August 4 from 2 pm until service time at 3:30 at Bartlett United Methodist Church, where she was a long time member.
