She met the love of her life Albert John Burnett, Jr. at just 14 years old – He asked her to be his ROTC sponsor at Humes High School, where they both attended and the rest is history.
Jo held the position of secretary/stenographer to several companies, including Sharvania Oil & Grease Corporation, Prest Manufacturing, W.R. Grace & Co. and Levi Strauss & Co. from which she retired after the company moved their headquarters to Arkansas. She held many hobbies/interests such as; oil painting, interior decorating and gardening. She was a wonderful seamstress and made beautiful drapes, bridesmaids dresses and Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Johnson and Sarah Kirkley Johnson, her husband John Burnett, whom she loved dearly and has missed for over 30 years, her siblings Ann Booker, Wanda Chrestman and “Sonny” Nathan Johnson.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa James and Toni Fisackerly. She was their rock, inspiration, confidant and best friend in life. She loved her three precious grandchildren who meant the world to her, Brent Fisackerly and Kirk Fisackerly of Bartlett, TN and Hayley James Day (Pat) of Raleigh, NC along with two, beautiful, loving great-grandchildren, Yates Day and Celeste Day of Raleigh, NC.
She also loved her ex-sons-in-law: Bruce Fisackerly and Johnnie R. James, Jr.
She leaves behind her loving sister June Goode of Hernando, MS and her sister-in-law Pat Johnson of Munford, TN. She will be sadly missed and will leave a void in everyone’s life who knew her.
Visitation will be held Monday March 24, from 1-2 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN with the funeral following at 2 PM.
